The forecast for potential rain proved no match for our Hacker weather-luck once again.  While I ran into a shower on the way home after the round, there was not a drop to be seen during play.  Despite the favorable conditions, we saw 6 players’ handicaps go up, while only 3 managed to improve.

Grace opted to take the week off to recover from last week’s scare, and, will hopefully be feeling well enough to rejoin us next week.  Steve Fusco also chose to sit out while trying to resolve his own injury situation (or, perhaps, he was just ducking his brother this week 😊 ).  Whatever the case, hopefully he too will be able to return to the fray next week.

Tim was our top point-getter of the night, downing sub Dick, who got his first look of the season at the difficult back 9, 7 ½ -1 ½ .  Starting out with a split on the first hole, Tim then went on a scoring spree, taking the next 6 holes, before dropping a point at 17, and finishing with a par at the final hole.  Nice round Tim!

Next up was Andy, who, after losing the first hole with a double-bogey wake-up call, went on to a 7-2 win over Sue.  Sue struggled a bit, but, did manage another full point at the par-3 15th , as both players posted bogey there.

Dave pulled double-duty, scoring the same 2 ½ points in his regular match against Steve Lockwood, as well as in a card match against Dan.  Kudos to both Steve and Dan, as they both shot better than their handicaps, which made for a rough night for Dave.  Chalk it up to bad timing Scoop!

Our leaders, Marty and Jim, were 6-3 winners against Bob and Tom. All 3 of Bob’s points coming in 6 halved holes. Jim took the lead in his match after the 2nd hole, but, Tommy fought back to even things up at the 5th. Unfortunately, he was only able to manage another ½ point over the remaining 4 holes.

Susan was the last of our winners, with a 5-4 decision over Pete, as she avenged her co-Susan’s loss to Pete from the previous week 😊  Susan’s round was high-lighted by a par, net eagle, at the par 3 15th.  Nicely done Susan!

And finally, the first match out, was our only tied match, in a truly close one.  First it was Mark for 2 holes, then Bette for 2 holes, then they tied 2 holes, and then it was Mark for 1 at the 17th, followed by Bette for 1 at the last, ending up with a tied match including the bonus point as they each had a net 38. ( I felt like Howard Cossell calling a boxing match just then…  ) Nice match you two!

With another week in the books, Marty completed another round without an “other”, despite the tap-in double at the 14th .  How long can he go?

It is still the Jim and Marty show at the top of the standings, while we saw a little bit of shuffling beneath them.  Steve Lockwood and Bob, moved out of their tie for 5th place, as Steve moved up into solo 3rd, while Bob fell out of the top-5 into 8th place.  Tim moved up from 7th into 4th, nudging Steve Fusco down into 5th, while Tommy also fell out of the top-5, dropping into 6th place. Starting next week, we begin throwing out our low point nights, so, we have the potential for more movement.  Stay tuned!

Hacker Cup

Marty held on to the top spot, albeit by a narrow margin of just 154 points ahead of Jim, who moved up from 3rd to 2nd, ahead of past trophy-holder Tommy. Tim also moved up into the top-5, from 6th into 4th , ahead of Bob who fell to 5th. Meanwhile, Dave fell from his top-5 spot of 5th into 7th place.

Next week marks the end of the regular season, as points will be reset to seed the positions for the play-offs.  Good luck all!
