It was another pleasant evening, as we snuck in another round between 2 days of rainy weather.  At the risk of jinxing it, I’m starting to think we might get through this season on-time and under-budget 😊  As I am typing this, there is a tornado warning in-effect for Saratoga until 5pm, as I look out my window and see the storm moving past us to the north.  Hope everyone stays safe!

Only one handicap went up this week, while 3 players saw their number go down, so, most everyone player at, or around, their handicap this week.

Again, we had some last-minute shuffling of matches, as well as a last-minute sub by Dan Richardson.  Thanks again Dan for filling in when needed!

Speaking of Dan, both Dans led the field in match points tonight, scoring 6 ˝ points each as Dan R defeated Pete, and Dan F took on Susan in a wire-to-wire victory. Dan R’s round was composed of four 4s, four 5s, and one 6, for a 1-under par net 34.  Nice round Dan!

These next 3 matches were all 5 ˝ - 3 ˝ wins.  Tim took advantage of a slow start by Andy, who used up his handicap in the first 2 holes.  Tim’s 3-point lead thru the 1st 4 holes was too much to overcome, despite posting four 3’s in-a-row.  Needing to win the final hole to tie the match, it was not meant to be, as both players made 6 and the handicap stroke gave the hole and the win, to Tim.  Nice match Tim!

Next up, Bette continued to shine, as her match with Marty started off with a tied first hole, she took the lead at the 2nd, and never looked back, keeping Marty at least 1 stroke behind for the rest of the match.  At the same time posting a tidy 3-under par net 32 for some valuable Hacker Cup points!  Nicely done Bette!  Could there be another, different “Mohsinger” on the cup after this year?

In another match where the trailer had a chance to tie the match at the final hole, Sue was trailing Jim, 4-1 after 5 holes, then took 2 ˝ point over the next 3 holes to give herself a chance for a tie.  That long par-5 at the end of the road just proved too much for here.  Valiant effort Sue!

Dave jumped out to a fast start against Steve Fusco, running up a 4-1 lead, and then stalling a bit, opening the door for Steve, who took the next 3 holes to bring the match to all-square. Dave took the final hole for the victory, matching Bette’s low net of 32 of the night.  Great round gents!

In the 2 card matches of the night, Marty and Tom each took on of the 1st 2 holes, and then split 4 of the next 6 holes to draw even coming to the close.  It was Marty prevailing at the end, as Tommy appears to have struggled a bit at #9.  Nice close one guys.

The final match of Steve Lockwood matching cards with Dave was a real hotstreak/coldstreak matchup, as Dave won the first 4 holes, and then Steve took the next 4 holes.  The match fittingly ended in a tie with a split at #9.

Marty continues his no “others” streak with just 2 more weeks to go, and no sign of cracking.

Jim held on to the #1 spot this week, while Marty move from solo 2nd into a tie with upward-bound Tim, moving up from the #6 position. Tom remains at #3, while Andy fell from 3rd to 5th, and Steve Fusco fell out of the top 5 into 8th place.  It’s all about replacing little numbers with big one now as we come into the clubhouse turn…

Hacker Cup

Two weeks into the playoffs, and Bette is hanging tough in the #1 spot! Dave is making a move, up from 6th into 2nd. Jim’s and Marty’s 3rd place tie is broken up, with Jim taking solo 3rd and Marty falls to 5th. Steve Fusco falls 2 spots into #4 and Tommy has dropped out of the top 5, into 7th place.

Tim pulled off a twofer, snagging the CTP twice-in-a-row, and cutting last-week’s distance by more than ˝, at 11’1”.  Nice shot Tim.  (Hopefully no one will look at the score for that hole 😊 , oh shoot, I probably shouldn’t have said that)
