This really, never gets old.  Awesome weather! Warm temp, a slight breeze and low humidity.  It just doesn’t get any better than that!

Playing on the more difficult back 9, we still saw 4 handicaps go down, while only 3 went up.  The reduced field made for 3 card-matches despite having 2 subs.  Thanks, once again to Dan Richardson and Gloria for filling in!  We hope that those who have missed recent rounds for health issues, are able to return to action for the up-coming final week of matches.

Steve Lockwood was the top winner tonight.  His 8-1 win coming from him shooting better than his handicap on his way to taking low net for the entire group, and Tommy shooting worse than his. Sometimes it’s all about how the stars align.

Next up was Andy, notching a 7-2 win over SusanSusan had kept pace through the first 4 holes, but, then Andy ran-the-table for the remaining 5 to secure the victory.

Tim continued his winning ways with a wire-to-wire, 6-3 decision over Gloria, whose only full point in the round came from the one hole where she got a stroke.  Note to Tim: Your round wasn’t as bad as you may have thought.  See your corrected scorecard 😊.   The other 6-3 win came from one of the card-matches, as Dan R. held Marty to just ½ point through the first 4 holes, and, allowed just 2 ½ over the last 5.

In the match of Dave vs Dan R, they were all-square thru the first 5 holes, then Dan R won 3 of the last 3 to close out the match at 5 ½ - 3 ½.  Dan R has been quite the spoiler this season, winning all 4 of the matches in which he has subbed.  Nice season Dan!

Another Dan (Mr. Fusco) was involved in two 5 ½ -3 ½ matches.  Winning in one case, and, losing in the other.  While the loss came in his scheduled match against Mark, and, thereby affected his season point total, the loss may have been softened somewhat by the wire-to-win, in a re-match of sorts, against cousin Jim, to whom he had lost earlier in the season.  In his match against Mark, it was a different story. While leading through the first 5 holes, he struggled toward the end, allowing Mark to take 3 ½ of the next 4 points for the win.  Nice match guys!

Last, but not least, in a close match featuring 6 tied holes, Bette jumped out to an early lead over Susan, who fought back to tie things up through 6 holes.  Taking the full point at the 7th hole proved to be the key to victory for Bette,  as they split the final 2 holes.  Nice match ladies!

Marty continues his no “others” streak with just 1 more week to go.  He reported a momentary chink in the armor, with a hooked lost ball on #13.  In true Marty style, he managed to recover with a putt that swirled the hole before dropping.  Nice save Marty!

We’re in the homestretch now, and, despite his loss, Jim continues to hold on #1 spot this week.  Tim remains in a tie for 2nd, however, with a different player, as Marty fell out of the top 5 into 6th, as Andy moved up from 5th, to join Tim in 2ndSteve L. and Bette, both made significant moves upward as well, from 7th and 6th, respectively, into 4th and 5th.  Meanwhile, Tom also fell out of the top 5, dropping from 4th to 7th.  This is all that movement we knew was coming, as folks start replacing low points with higher ones.  I hope to have the “whocandoit” spreadsheet available prior to next week’s final matches.  Look for a notice in your emails.

With just one more week to go, Bette’s remains I the top spot, although with a somewhat narrower lead than before, a scant 800 points ahead of Steve Lockwood, who moved up from 6th into the #2 spot, nudging Dave down into 3rd.  Andy also made a big move up, from 8th to 4th, while Jim fell from 3rd to 5th.   Remember, your lowest point week will be thrown out, and the TOTAL of your remaining 3 points (not average as previously stated), plus your seed points, will be used for the final calculation.  Those of you who have missed a playoff week, that zero (0) will be your low score that is thrown out.
