Our weather fortunes continue for another week.  The clouds that moved in during the round looked a little sketchy, but the only affect they had was to cool things down for a little bit.  Once again, the handicap improvers outnumbered the backsliders 4 to 2, while the remaining 10 players held to the status quo.

Once again, a majority of the matches went 5 ½ - 3 ½, and 2 matches resulted in ties.  The top winners tonight were Steve Fusco and Pete, each winning 6-3 plus the bonus point, over Bob and Tom (aka: ).  The first five holes of their match were a back-and-forth, started by Steve, which led him to a 3-2 lead at the outset.  Bob could only manage 2 more ½ points, as Steve finished the round in strong fashion.  The “Thumper” match was notable for the 6 tied holes in the round, alas, those were the only points Tommy would see, as Pete took the 3 remaining full points, capped off with what I hear was a 40 footer for par on the 8th hole!  Nice job Pete!

In the 5 ½ - 3 ½ matches, Dave pulled out a well-timed 42 gross to top Andy, in a match that was all-square thru 7, winning the last 2 holes to close out the match.   While finishing on the short end of her match with Marty,  I am pretty sure Sue was consoled by scoring her 1st birdie in league action during the match.  Nice job Sue!  And, in the last match in this score-range, the family matchup of Dan and Jim was, shall we say somewhat of a family feud match.  Dan jumped out to a 3-0 run, but then, tensions mounted as Jim fought back with a 4-0 run of his own, followed by a split hole at number 8, and a full point to Jim with a birdie at the last for the win.

The only 5-4 match saw another close one, as Mark and Tim were tied thru 3, and again thru 5, and again thru 8.  Tim was done in by a double at the final hole, leading to the win for Mark.  Well fought guys!

In the tied matches, Steve L lead thru the 1st 6 holes, with Bette whittling away at it until achieving all-square at the 7th, and then taking the lead thru 8.  Steve needed to win the last hole to achieve the tie.  And, last, but not least, Susan and Grace slugged it out in a streaky match with only 1 tied hole and matching gross scores to boot.

Mark, Marty and Dan, are still hanging on in the running for the other” title, while Marty and Steve Lockwood still remain as the only players without a loss.

Hacker Cup

Tom and Marty continue their shuffling routine at the top, with Marty moving up this time.  Steve Fusco made a big move with the 2nd lowest net on the night, jumping from 7th to 3rd , pushing Steve Lockwood and Bob down 1 spot each into 4th and 5th, while Jim fell slightly out of the top 5.
