Results  August 20, 2021

Yet another hot and sticky one, this time instead of a cool-down at the end, we got bugs!  Millions of ‘em! 

This week we saw 5 players improve their handicaps, some significantly, while just one player, yours truly, got worse ☹

It was a good night to be a Mohsinger, as Bette blanked Sue to be the top points-winner tonight, while hubby Tom continued his reign in the WLT category, picking up a 6 ½ - 2 ½ win over Andy.  Nice round folks!

Meanwhile, Bob stepped up his game this week, delivering a 7-2 loss to Dave, as he shot a new league-record low net of 24!  This surpassed the previous record of 25, that was shared by Dan Richardson (2008), Andy (1995) and Ed? Sheahan (1988).  Great round Bob!  Dave, way to take one for the team!  The only player who would’ve fared any better against that round is Bette, and she would only have gotten ½ point more than you did, so, well done!.

Marty and Gloria had a close one, finishing at 5-4, the match was tied up at 3 points, including coming to the final hole, where Gloria missed out on a halved-match by just 1 stroke!  Well played!

Dan and Pete were close too, with Pete jumping out to the early lead, going 2-up through 3 holes.  Dan fought his way back to all square thru 5, where they remained until the final hole, where Dan ended the round with a flourish, making birdie to assure the 5-4 win!

Mark and Jim began their matched all-square thru 2, before Mark knocked in a birdie at #3 to go 1-up.  Jim got back to all square two holes later, leading to a back-and-forth finish ending in a tied match, including the bonus point.  Nice round guys!

In the remaining match of Brian vs Tim, it was Brian leading most of the way. Tim stayed within range, never letting Brian be more than 1-up, and finally taking the last hole to square-up the match for the tie.  Way to hang in the against a tough opponent Tim!

<repeating last week’s> There was very little movement in the league standings, as Tom, Brian, Tim and Marty held onto the top 4 spots. <end of repeat> Meanwhile, Dan, doing his best to avoid 8^th place, moved up from 7^th into the #5 spot, pushing Mark down to 6^th place.  Stay tuned for the annual “Who Can Do It” page, that will show the numerical hurdles that will need to be overcome in order to make any kind of move up the leaderboard.

Hacker Cup

Brian still holds the lead here, with Dave just 250 points behind, followed by Tom just 850 points back.  On the heels of her shared second-low-net, Bette moved from 7^th to 4^th, as Andy fell from 4^th to 5^th. Tim and Dan fell out of their tie for 5^th, with Tim dropping to 6^th, and Dan to 8^th.  Bob’s 3000 point night moved him up into 7^th place from 14^th!  Nice big move Bob!

It was a close one this week, as Tim got there first with 20’ 5”, but, Dan put it less than a foot closer for the win!  Nice shooting!
