Now we’re talking good weather! It was a very pleasant night for golf. That said, I had this whole spiel worked out in my head where I was going to say something like “What an ugly round of golf that was. Hooks, slices, chunked wedges, 3 putts, and then came the 2nd hole…”, hoping that if not everyone, at least most folks had a round as bad as mine. But, then I checked the numbers, and, in fact only 4 players (you know who you are) shot worse on the easier front 9 than they had the previous week on the back 9. Can someone please explain this game to us?
Mark was the top scorer for the night, jumping out to an early 4-0 lead against Steve, who managed to stop the bleeding with a win at the 5th hole. However, it wasn’t enough to hold off Mark on his way to the 7-2 victory.
Gloria and Brian were next up, with 6-3 wins over Jim and Andy. Both winners dropped only 2 holes on their way to winning. Well played folks!
Three matches went 5 ½ - 3 ½, with Tom, Dan and Bob coming out on top vs Susan, Bette and Dave respectively.
Lastly, in the 5-4 category, Sue had a night with no double-digit scores, on her way to a 5-4 win over Tim. Nice round Sue! Meanwhile, Marty took down the other half of Team Michalski in what looks like a real nail-biter. All tied up through 6, and then again through 8, Marty capitalized on Pete’s struggles at the final hole to take the win. Tough finish Pete!
Tom and Brian held onto their 1st and 2nd place positions in the league standings, as Mark moved up from 5th to 3rd. Marty, Bob and Gloria all moved up into a tie for 4th, as Tim and Andy fell out of the top 5 from their tie for 3rd.
We may have an early winner this year in the “Others” competition, as Jim has now left the field, leaving just Mark and Marty to sort it out. The other watch has officially begun. No pressure guys!
Brian jumped in from of Tom and Jim,in the Cup standing, while Marty and Bob made big moves up into 4th and 5th, respectively.
