It was a great night for golf, and wedding receptions.  Sorry I missed the golf, but had a great time at Steven’s reception.  Thanks to all who gave well-wishes!

Not much movement again in the handicaps, 3 players went down a stroke, and 2 went up.  I did, however, invoke secretarial privilege, and perform a post-round adjustment to the handicaps for our subs.  It can be difficult to equate an outside handicap into our “proprietary” league handicap system, so, when scores show a high deviation from the initial handicap, I apply the Peoria Method to adjust handicaps and re-score matches.  The end result in these cases was nominal, since the only affected league member was Dave.  By modifying Jeanne’s handicap from 19 to 14, the match score changed from 7 ½ - 2 ½, to 5 ½ - 3 ½.  Jack’s adjustment was a bit larger, from 12 to 6, but, since Susan’s late withdrawal left him without a “normal” match, I ended up putting him in a card match with Sue. The resulting match score has no effect on any league standings.  For any future matches involving Jack and Jeanne, I will be looking closely at any modifications that might be needed, until such time as they have sufficient rounds to fit into our formula.  We have plenty of absences throughout the remainder of the season, so, plenty of opportunities to sub.  I hope you both enjoyed your round and are willing and able to play with us in the future!  Thanks for filling in today!

The matches were all fairly close this week.  In our first of two matches that went 5 ½ - 3 ½, Bette took the early lead on Tim, but, perhaps buoyed by a miraculous 2nd shot from left of the trees on #3, and the resulting par, Tim fought back to take the lead after 6 holes, and finish with the win.  The second match to end 5 ½ - 3 ½ was the aforementioned match between Dave and Jeanne. In her debut Hacker matchup, Jeanne never trailed Dave on her way to the victory. Welcome to the Hackers Jeanne!  Fellow Hackers beware, we have new player in our midst 😊.

There were three matches that ended in scores of 5-4.  Starting with the friendly match of Mark and Brian, they started out keeping things close, knotting things up after 2 holes, then again after 4.  Brian then took the lead and held on to the finish. The closeness of the match made evident by Mark taking the bonus point by 1 stroke.  Nice close match!

In another slugfest, tied at the 2nd, 7th and 8th holes, Dan clinched the win at the last, needing only a bogey to take the hole, and the match, from Gloria.  The closeness of this match was evidenced by the splitting of the bonus point. Nice job folks!

The 3rd and final 5-4 match also started out close, tied thru the first 3 holes. Then Tommy took, and held, the lead over Jim until the end.  Again, another split bonus point shows how close things really were!

Finally, Sue and Pete stepped up their games going into this week’s “Family Feud” match.  Battling to a 4 ½ - 4 ½ finish, Pete took low net in their match for the bonus point, while Sue took low net for the league to take top points in the Hacker Cup race.  Excellent round, and nice job of keeping peace in the family!

Unbeknownst to Sue, she was also going to be matching cards to returning sub Jack. Another match that started out close, and then Sue put on a strong finish to prevail 5 ½ - 3 ½.  It was a good night for Sue!

The tie at the top has been un-tied, as Tom moves into solo 1st, while Brian drops into solo 2nd. Andy remained in 3rd place, while Mark and Dan move from 4th and 5th, respectively, into a tie for 4th.

Mark continues his blemish-free season (no “others”).  Keep up the excellent play Mark!

The carryover has ended!  Brian knocked it to 7’ 1” for the win!  Nice shot Brian!  (Did you ask for security to escort you to your car with all those winnings? 😊)
