So, not that great of a night, but, not horrible either. Sometimes we just need to bite the bullet and play in some inclement summer weather, else we risk playing in some snow and/or in the dark at the end of the season.
The reduced field didn’t see much movement in the handicaps, with just 2 improvers and 1 increase. No adjustments to handicaps for Jack and Jeanne were needed, as the variances were deemed “normal”. Thanks to both players, as well as Dan Richardson, for toughing it out in the rain with the rest of us!
The top winners tonight were Marty and Jim, garnering 6 ˝ points versus Tim and Dave. Jim and Dave tied the first hole, but then Jim took command of the match leading all the lay to the end. Tim put up a valiant effort against perennial powerhouse Marty. Playing alongside Mark and Andy, a highlight for Tim came at the 16th hole as he was the only player in that group to successfully clear the shortcut and make the fairway. A very nice tee-shot indeed!
Brian was next up in the win-column, with a 5 ˝ -3 1/3 decision over a struggling Jack. Tied through the first two holes, Brian took command, and despite the conditions, went on to shoot his handicap for the win. Nice round Brian!
In what was literally an up-and-down match, with each player winning every-other-hole and no ties, Dan R. took the 5-4 win over Gloria at the final hole with what was estimated to be a 60-foot putt to save par! (Correction: Apparently my wife is right, and I need my hearing checked. It was a 6 foot putt, not 60). I don’t recall ever seeing a saw-tooth match like that before. Nice round folks!
The remaining two matches ended it ties. Tied for the first 3 holes, Dan F. then took the lead and held it until the final hole, where Jeanne proved she is a force to be reckoned with, dropping in a par to win the hole and tie the match! Nice finish Jeanne!
Last minute withdrawals led to a matchup between Mark and Andy. In another interesting match, this one was highlighted by Mark winning the first hole, followed by 7 tied holes and a final hole win by Andy to close out the 4 ˝ - 4 ˝ tie. Not sure, but that may be a record number of tied holes in one match. Nice Match Mark! Looking forward to our scheduled match/re-match, later this month!
A not-in-action Tom, held on to the top spot in the league standings, followed by Brian and Andy hanging on to their 2nd and 3rd place spots. Marty jumped up into solo 4th place from 6th, pushing Dan and Mark, previously tied for 4th, down into a tie for 5th.
Mark continues his blemish-free season (no “others”), while Marty remains undefeated. Keep up the excellent play guys!
Dan continues his reign in the Cup standings, followed by Andy swapping places with Mark, from 3rd to 2nd, with Brian and Dave filling out the top 5, holding on to their 4th and 5th place spots.

#18 - Andy
Following a win after a four-week carryover run, we had three players in
contention for the prize, with Mark starting us off at 14’ 6”,
followed by Brian trying to repeat, knocking it to 13’ 10”. Jim was having none of that though, sticking it to 9’ for the win. Nice shooting all!
