|
Congratulations to Dave! While he didn’t have the best winning average, he did have the most total wins for the season, at 10 wins, 4 losses and 1 tie (.700). In second place was Tommy, who DID have the best overall/L/T record of .750. He finished just .5 points behind in the league standings. Third place went to Gloria with a record of 6-3-3 (.625). Clearly her wins were for big points! Nice job to our top three players!
It was another great night of weather for golf, as evidenced by the fact that, with one exception, everyone was able to improve their points average in the league competition. The forecast for next Friday is looking good as well. Could be a perfect season, weather-wise!
Once again, Mark closed out the season with no “others”, leading the field in average pars, 2nd in average birdies and 1st in fewest double-bogeys, ending with the lowest average over-par in the field. Another great season Mark!
Mark, Tim and Andy were the top point scorers tonight. Mark and Andy defeated Gloria and Dan, 6-3, respectively, while Tim took 6 points in his card match against a struggling Marty.
Four matches ended at 5-4, and they each had their own brand of drama, starting with Bet vs Marty. Here, Marty took the early lead, holding it thru 6 holes, but Bet posted a strong come-from-behind finish, taking 3 ½ points on the last four holes for the win!
Dave and Brian had a real tight one, with Brian taking the early 1-up lead at the 1st, followed by Dave taking the next 2 holes for his 1-up lead. Brian got it back to all-square at the 5th, where it remained till the very last hole, where Dave prevailed to take the win. Nice match gents!
In the match-up of Mike Fusco and Sue, we saw another close one, with each player having a 1-up lead with a couple of all-square points in-between. All square coming to the final hole, it was Mike taking that hole for the 5-4 win. Another nail-biter!
Matt and Mike Murphy performed in similar fashion, with the match all square for five holes, and the lead changing 3 time. With the match all tied up coming to the final hole, it was Matt taking final point for the win. Well played!
Last, but not least, Bob had Tommy on the ropes, with a 3-up lead after 5 holes, but, in similar fashion to Bet, he managed to come back, winning 3 ½ points over the last four holes, the close out the match with a tie. Great match by a couple of masters!
Congratulations TIM!
There was no play-off required this year, as TIM finished 1000 points ahead of nearest competitor Bet! The Hacker Cup is meant to reward the player who has consistently improved the most over the course of the season, and Tim certainly has done that, starting the season with a 13 handicap, and closing it out with a single-digit 9. Well done Tim!

Next Week’s scramble format:
We are currently looking at a 5-team, 3-player, captain’s choice scramble. I checked with the starter this week, explained to him that we would be playing a scramble format with 5 groups of 3 players, and he was amenable to us doing that within our current tee-times. It helps that the ladies league behind us were playing their final round this week. We will be on the FRONT (RED) nine this week for this scramble.
Teams consisting of:
Mark-Tom-Gloria (2 strokes to par)
Andy-Brian-Bet (3 strokes to par)
Marty-Matt-Mike (3 strokes to par) (The 3M team 😊 )
Jim-Dave-Bob (3 strokes to par)
Dan-Tim-Sue (3 strokes to par)
$5 entry x 15 players = $75
Payout at:
$45 to first place team ($15 /player)
$30 to second place team ($10 /player)
