It was another scorcher out there, as the weather continues to favor us! Just one ever so brief sprinkle as we were gathered at the first hole, most folks probably didn’t even notice it. After that it was smooth sailing
Dan F. was the top point-scorer tonight, as he showed little family mercy toward Mike F., shooting 1 better than his handicap on his way to the 7-2 win. Nice round Dan!
Two matches ended with 6-3 victories. In the first, Tommy battled back from a 3-hole deficit, to square the match thru 6, and then win the final 3 holes for the victory over Bret. Way to come back Tom! Nice round! The other match was Gloria vs Sue, which got off to an even start, all square thru the first 2 holes. Sue was holding her own, with no double-digit scores and halving 4 of the first 6 holes, but Gloria proved to much for her, winning 4 of the other 5 holes for the match! Nice round ladies!
In a re-match from the previous week (due to secretarial mis-reading of the schedule) Jim managed a bit of revenge, reversing the 5 ½-3 ½ loss to Bob from last week. The watch was all-square after the 6th hole, and then Jim took the final 2 holes for the win! Well fought!
Bob also fell, 5-4 in his match with Andy, which was another close one, with Andy jumping out to the early lead, Bob got it back to all square after 4, and then took it to 1-up thru 6. A ball in the water, and an un-likely par save on the 7th got it back to all square. Andy took the lead at the next hole, and held on at the last for the win! Nice match Robert!
Tim was the final winner, in a 5-4 match against Brian which featured 6 tied holes. Tim won 2 out the 3 remaining holes to seal the deal. Great match guys!
The remaining 2 matches ended in ties. Starting with Mark vs Matt, it was Matt taking the lead at the 2nd hole, getting it to 2-up at 2 different points of the match. Mark fought back at the end, taking 2 of the 3 final holes to finish with the tie. Great comeback Mark!
And, in his final match as a sub this season, Dan Richardson held Dave to a tie, in a match that was all-square on 5 of the 9 holes. Thanks Dan, for filling in this year. We really needed it!
Well, week #11 marks the end of the Hacker Cup Regular season, as well as the first week where players are able to start throwing out low scores. Four players were able to do just that, but, the only one able to take advantage of it was Dave, as he was able to improve from 4th, to T1 with Tommy. Not playing this week, Bette fell from 2nd to 3rd, and Marty from 3rd to 4th. Andy managed to hold on to the #5 spot.
Mark still has no other blemish on his record this season, and I doubt we’ll see one, as he continues his stellar scoring, as evidenced below. Keep it up Mark, you’ve got this!
Andy and Dave held on to the top 2 spots and will be the number 1 and 2 seeds going into the playoffs. With his 32 net this week, Tom moved up into the #3 seed from his previous 6-place position, as Gloria, Jim and Tim each fell one spot from their previous 3rd, 4th, and 5th place positions, respectively. The points have reset, and we are in the play-offs. Good luck everyone!
