Well, that was certainly a less soggy round, and a beautiful night, weather-wise!
Despite the course’s assertion that the temporary par 3 setup at the 7th hole was still the 2nd hardest hole on this nine, as a group, we averaged a net under par on that hole. Of course, we also averaged net under par on the hardest hole on the course too, so, who knows? Time will tell.
Not to be outdone by hubby, Bette was one of the top scorers tonight, along with Jim, as each player garnered 7 ˝ points + the bonus point. Gloria must’ve had a premonition that Bette was going to play well tonight, allowing Dan Richardson to take the hit in her place, as Bette also posted the lowest net on the night. Nice round Bette! Jim returned to form this week following a rough start last week. Jumping out to a 4-0 start and then scoring at least ˝ point in the remaining 5 holes, Mark didn’t stand much of a chance.
Next up were the matches of Marty and Bob, and Mike Murphy and Andy. Bob jumped out to an early lead, holding it until the 3rd hole, where Marty got it back to all-square. Marty then took 4 of the next 5 holes for a commanding lead. Bob finished with a win at the final hole to end the match at 6-3. In the other 6-3 match, it was close through the first 5 holes, before Andy gradually pulled ahead to a 3-up lead, assuring at least a tied-match. Mike cut 1 off that lead at the 7th, but scores on the last 2 holes gave Andy the win.
The match of Dave and Dan ended in a score of 5 ˝ - 3 ˝, with Scoop leading wire-to-wire.
The remaining 3 matches went 5-4, as Tim, Pete and Tom downed Sue, Brian, and Mike Fusco, in some very close matches. In fact, Tim and Sue came to the final hole all square, but the difficult par-5 finishing hole proved to be too much for Sue, as Tim took the hole handily for the match win.
Well, after just 2 weeks of play, Mark, remains the only player without an “other” as Dan, Marty and Mike Fusco, exceeded the double-bogey limit. Now, let’s see how long Mark can maintain. Good luck Mark!
Bette took top honors in the net category, elevating her from 3rd to 1st. Jim made a big move from 11th to 3rd, just a few points behind Mike Fusco.
41 - Jim
42 – Mark

NEW for 2022
Virtual Team Competition
The team of Mark and Dave has moved into the top spot here, ahead of teams Brian/Gloria and Marty/Bette, by a scant ˝ point. Dan/Sue, Mike/Mike and Tim/Tom, are all tied behind them at 19 ˝ points, followed by Jim/Pete, and finally Andy/Bob. This is shaping up to be a very tight competition. Time to start building some team spirit!
Marty recorded the first birdie of the season, at the 7th hole. Nice shot on that difficult pin location!
No winner tonight. Carryover to next week.
