Banquet Night

In what was probably one of the best nights we’ve had all season, weather-wise, it was the team of Pete and Jim prevailing in the alternate-shot format. Their net 30 included 2 eagles, 3 birdies and just one hole over par.  Nicely done!

Second place, with a net 31, went to the team of Dan Fusco and Tom, with 1 eagle, 5 birdies and also just one hole over par. Well done.

For third place, we had several teams come in with net 33s, which led to a tie-break situation. Fortunately, we only had to go to the eagle count, as Dave and Tim topped out the entire group with 3 eagles! Interestingly, they had no birdies to go along with those eagles, otherwise the results may have been different.  Still, a great round!

Of course, the night wasn’t without some controversy, starting with the scorekeeping. Tommy, the treasury may need to invest in providing calculators for each group 😊.  Either that or, we may need to move into the digital world and start using a scoring app of some kind. There are some useful apps out there that can provide real-time scoring for events like this as well as our normal match-nights.  This could work for us as long as 1 player in each group has access to a smartphone with an app installed. Some off-season research is called for.

And, I would be remiss if I didn’t take Tommy to task for the CTP snafu 😊  He had ONE job (well not really), but, the irony of the situation is worth mentioning here, so, Congrats to Brian for his CTP shot at the tough 17th hole.  I would report the distance, but it doesn’t seem like you were provided with any sort of measuring device… hmmm…

CTP for Brian!

All kidding aside, Tom, great job setting up the venue and managing the fund!

When all is said and done, I believe everyone had a fun time with the format and at the banquet afterwards, I know I did!  Thanks to everyone for helping to make this league the success that it is. We are a unique bunch, to say the least 😊
