First off, let’s everyone please remember to ask about the CTP marker and tape measure BEFORE the first group tees off 😊.  Our target this week is to get the marker set up on hole #17. Thanks!

Leading off the scoring for the week we have Dan Fusco and Gloria, each winning 6 ½ - 2 ½ over Sue and Bob, respectively.  Both Sue and Bob managed to get their matches to all square after 4 holes but couldn’t hold off their opponents after that. Returning to action for the first time this season, it was Mark up next, with a 6-3 victory over BetteMark jumped out to the early 3-up lead through 3 holes.  Bette took one back at the 4th, but Mark recouped that point quickly. The remaining 4 holes were tied, resulting in the final 3-up win.

Three matches ended in 5 ½ - 3 ½ wins, as Dave, Matt and Andy defeated Pete, Tom and Brian. The 3 matches included a total of 10 holes at all square. Also in each match, the first player to be down in the match, ended up as the winner.  Great close matches!

Filling in for Marty, Ev was victorious over Tim, falling 1-down at the start, then getting to 1-up after hole 3. From there she managed to hold off a struggling Tim to post the final 5-4 win.

Last, but not least, in the second family feud match of the season, Jim and Dan Palmerino, fought to a 4 ½ - 4 ½ draw, in a match that saw them all square at 5 separate holes, including the final.

Eagle Crest is playing tough so far, with 10 players’ handicaps going up after last week’s round.  None have gone down as yet… Hopefully what we’re seeing so far is a mix of early season rustiness alongside a tougher course.

I neglected to mention the infamous “other” status last week.  With Marty and Mark both not in-action, Andy was the only player to finish the 1st round with no other.  He took care of that this week, with a triple-bogey on #7.  Meanwhile, Mark survived his first week with no other on the card.  That leaves just Mark and Marty to battle it out for the “title”.  Good luck to both players!

Hacker Cup

It is an early battle of the Dans atop the Hacker Cup leaderboard, as Dan Fusco moved from T2 into first, supplanting Dan Palmerino, who dropped just one spot into 2nd

The Numbers:

47 – Andy

Low Net

35 – Dan F.

NEW for 2023

Knockout Champion

Keeping it in the family (sort of anyway), Dan Fusco made it to the 9th hole, knocking out Dave 5-6, to take the gloves away from Dan P. (for the time-being anyway).

Eagles and Birdies

There was just 1 birdie to be had out there.

#3 – Mark

Closest-to-the-pin

Dan Palmerino hit a nice ball into this, the toughest hole on the side, besting the previous close ball from Dave by at least 5’ (a tape measure sure would’ve proved useful 😊)
